Launch of Japanese Translation of 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2022
The 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2022 report summarizes the most important and up-to-date scientific findings on climate change, and is annually published for and presented at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP). The report is a joint initiative between Future Earth, The Earth League and the World Climate Research Programme.
The Japanese translation of the 2022 report was presented on April 18th, 2023 by a subset of authors/secretariat coordinators and related experts at a dedicated virtual launch event that attracted nearly 500 participants.
Aimed at a cross-sectoral audience, the experts gave an overview and explained in an easy-to-understand manner selected content from the 10 New Insights and the report developing processes. Discussions enabled explanations of the science but also explored the relevance of the Insights to Japan. In addition, a representative of a youth organization joined the discussion presenting how they have been using the report for their learning activities among youth groups. An inspiring talk that can be replicated by other organizations as well.
