Sruti Devendran

Science Officer

Sruti Devendran is a Project Associate at the Future Earth South Asia Regional Centre. Sruti has done her Masters of Arts in Climate and Society Program from Columbia University in 2018, and her undergraduate education in Biotechnology from national Institute of Technology Calicut in India. She was a Research Associate at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in 2017-2018, where she worked on the effects of genetic adaptation to climate change on global agriculture. She is passionate about climate change and climate services. Since her Masters degree, she worked as a Staff Associate with the International Research Institute for Climate and Society at Columbia University with the Data Library Team on processing large climate datasets, making it available to the public through the Data Library. Her short-term goal is to work on Climate services sector, specifically in applications of climate information in various climate-sensitive sectors of the society. Apart from that, she is also interested in science journalism, in communicating science to the public. She has interviewed scientists, and have published articles on various aspects of climate change and climate services. Sruti was also a Khorana Fellow, a DST program, and has done projects in paleoclimatology at University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign during her undergraduate years through this program.
